With a lot of migratory movement, Tarangire National Park is famous for holding the most seasonal attraction. The rolling area occupies an area of 2850 square km. The park got its name from the beautiful Tarangire River. The vegetation of the park is much greener with vast grass lands and acacia woodlands.
Tarangire is a part of the bigger ecosystem. The animals seen in the park differ as the season differs. The dry season is the perfect time to witness the game gathering in the river ecosystem. So June to October is considered the best time for wild viewing. Here the most attractive is the big number of elephants, wildebeests and zebras. Whether the season is wet or dry mobs of elephants can be easily seen in the park.
In addition to this other animals also exist in plenty like impalas, eland, buffalo and giraffes, Bohor reedbuck, Thompson’s gazelle, greater and lesser kudu and hartebeests. On really some rare occasions, the common usual gerenuk and fringe –eared Oryx are also seen. Tarangire also harbours a few black rhinos.
Among the predators leopards, lions, hyenas, and cheetah seem to be popular within the southern open areas. The wild dogs are seen rarely in Tarangire.
Tarangire is also home to nearly 500 species of birds. Among which the most famous are the lovebirds that are yellow collared, Kori bustard, the stocking-thighed ostrich, the shy starlings are in plenty and widespread in Tanzania.
